Oh my god
:D :D
Now hand over the engine so I can make star wars! :Ddom cook - 29-4-2016 at 11:16 AM
Calling it an engine is a bit too kind. But you're welcome to it as soon as it's not a mess.
Star Wars might be a bit of a challenge unless you can tweak DIV to allow more than 256 draw objects on the screen at once.
If you did I'd be able to finish this little beauty to the standard it deserves.

Well, increasing the draw limit is trivial
Also, you could do something similar in a dll...
How many draw objects do you want? 2000?
2000 seems to be a reasonable amount based on tests i've run locally. 16k is approx 5fps - not really usable in its current form.

Well a dll sounds nice but I've no experience with them. I could look into it I suppose but not until I've actually finished something.
Am I right in thinking that you're saying that you can easily up the draw limit? If so, I would say that around 2000 is a good number, at least as
far as Star Wars goes.
Out of curiosity, does the power of 2 factor in? Would it then be 2048? MikeDX - 29-4-2016 at 02:20 PM
Its just a number. I'll set it to 16384 and push the new setting so you can test it after midnight dom cook - 30-4-2016 at 06:26 PM
Great stuff. I'm looking forward to giving it a go.dom cook - 30-4-2016 at 08:55 PM
The extra drawing is working really well. I'll put the latest version of the engine in the wips in case you want to have a play with it. Be warned
this engine is something that The A team might have come up with while locked in a cupboard with a roll of duck tape. But it's getting better.

It's amazing what you've done here - absolutely stunning. dom cook - 1-5-2016 at 05:39 AM
