STARTING A GAME
===============

FireZone can be played by 1 or 2 players. Once the title screen appears, select PLAY to select a game. When the next screen appears, press the up and down cursor keys or joystick controls to select a game type.

Game type 1 - AI vs AI
This selection starts a demonstration game where the computer plays as both players.

Game type 2 - Human vs AI
This selection starts a 1 player game against the computer.

Game type 3 - Human vs Human
This selection starts a 2 player game.

Whilst still on this screen, pressing the left and right cursor keys or joystick controls will rotate the level selector. Rotate the level pictures until your chosen level is the largest image at the top of the circle.

To begin the game, press enter or the joystick fire button 1.

HOW TO PLAY
===========

Once your character has flown in and landed on the play field, pressing the direction controls will move the character around. Press the fire button to fire a bullet.
The player controls are as follows:

Player 1:	Forwards:	Up cursor key / Joystick up
Backwards:	Down cursor key / Joystick down
Turn left:	Left cursor key / Joystick left
Turn right:	Right cursor key / Joystick right
Fire: Control / Joystick button 1

Player 2:	Forwards:	"T" key
		Backwards:	"G" key
		Turn left:	"F" key
		Turn right:	"H" key
		Fire: "Q" key

The aim of the game is to score more kills than your oponent in 2 minutes. Players score a kill whenever their oponent dies. To kill the other player, shoot bullets at them until their health is reduced to zero - at which point they will pop and shower the arena will yellow blobs. When two minutes are up, the game will end and a screen will appear displaying the final scores.

As you play, you will see spinning coloured tokens appear. If a player moves close enough to a token before it dissapears, they will pick it up and it will enhance their character's ability in some way. There are 9 tokens in total:

Red token:
Increases the damage that the player's bullets inflict.

Orange token:
Increases the rate at which the player fires. (Holding down fire will continuously shoot)

Yellow token:
Increases the speed at which the player moves around.

Green token:
Increases the player's health by 50.

Light blue token:
Decreases the damage recieved from enemy bullets.

Dark blue token:
Allows the player to glide over terrain such as water, ice and lava without effect

Purple token:
Increases the amount that the player's bullets turn to home in on the enemy.

Black token:
Avoid this token at all costs! It reduces the player's health to 0, killing them instantly.

Flashing super token:
This rarely seen super token makes the player totally invincible for about 15 seconds.

Ocasionally, a siren will sound, the screen will turn red and the words "BLITZ TIME" will appear. When this happens, players will have maximum speed, fire rate, bullet strength, bullet homing, defense, and all terrain for a short amount of time. During blitz time, all strategy and planning dissapears and players must race to get as many kills as possible!

In certain arenas, there are special terrain features. Watch out for the following:

Walls
Walls will stop you from walking over them and will also block bullets.

Water
When floating over water, the character will kick up a spray and will move slower than on ground.

Lava
When floating over lava, the charater will move slower than on ground and will lose health at a high rate.

Ice
When floating over ice, the character will not be able to stop! They will move in a straight line across the ice until another terrain type is reached. Trying to turn left or right on ice will cause the player to skid round and round.

Teleporters
If a player enters a teleporter, they will be transported to a random location in the arena. If they teleport onto a wall, the teleporter will reposition them.

I hope you enjoy playing FIREZONE!
