Is there likely to be a category for newcomers and another for DIV veterans? it doesn't seem fair that all of the old hands could be going head to head with someone that's just picked up the language. But that's just my two cents :p

Maybe some considerations will have to be made for old timers, but it's a fairly level playing field given that nobody uses DIV anymore.

I am against labeling contestants. In my opinion DIV experience doesn't matter. I think someone with professional programming knowledge without DIV experience is no less a challenge than a DIV hobbyist veteran.

Also, the point is making games and have fun, not winning a prize.

Edit: Ok, maybe a bit for the winning adrenaline!

Fair enough, I suppose if it's someone more inexperienced then they could simply pick a simpler game to code and a game that's more complicated has no intrinsically higher value or playability than a simpler one :)

So, what's with this Code Golf forum then? is that going to be the theme - golf? xo

Then I will call it Flog and the purpose will be hitting the club whilst swinging around your balls.

Seriously though, I want to start already :P What is the theme? </unpatient>

Depending on what I can do with the theme and how busy I am I *might* participate. i don't really want to make a conventional golf game, tbh I kind of already have an idea for what sort of game I'd love to make - but yeah

The theme is not golf, that is a different set of competitions.

Dammit! I've just spent 4 hours working on a golf game. What a donut! I guess I could modify it a bit.

Really?

Well looks like we could have a golf theme I suppose ;) Although knowing the theme in advance is a bit cheating!

To be honest, as long as I can somehow work my (quite broad) idea that I already have into the forthcoming compo theme then I don't mind what it is. I have a hankering to make a particular kind of game :p

I think I'll stick with it either way. It was just what I needed to get me off my butt. I've been opening and closing DIV for a week now, wondering if I could get back into it. It's all flooding back now.

You're in for a treat then, just don't hold your breath. There's a fairway to go.
